He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

所以弟兄們，你們要站穩；凡你們所受教的傳統教訓、無論是由我們口傳、或是由我們的書信所發表的，你們都要執守。

你從我所聽見的健全言論，你要用那在基督耶穌裏的信心和愛心奉為規範。

有一句話是可信可靠，是全然值得悅納的，就是：『基督耶穌到世界上來、是要拯救罪人』；其中的罪魁呢、我就是；

若有人傳別的教義，不歸順健全之道、我們主耶穌基督之道、跟那合乎敬虔教義之道，

為嫖妓或作男倡的、為親男色的、為拐賣人口的、為撒謊的、為起假誓的、又是為了任何別樣敵對健全之教義而立的。

凡事要察驗，好的要持守；

但是你呢、你總要講健全教義上所適合講的事。

永恆主問撒但說：『你有沒有用心察看過我僕人約伯，看出地上沒有人能比得上他那樣純全，又正直又敬畏上帝，又遠離壞事呢？他一直持守他的純全，故此你激動我去攻擊他，毁滅他、是無用的。』

要購買真理；不可出賣真理；要購買智慧、管教、和明達。

能用柔和矯正對抗的人。或者上帝給他們悔改的心，得以認識真理；

以下這話是可信可靠，是全然值得悅納的：

但若眾人都傳講神言，有個不信的人或外行的進來，他一給眾人所訐發，一給眾人所審斷，

因為時候必到，人必不容忍健全的教義，反而耳朵發癢，順着自己的私慾給自己堆積許多教師來，

親愛的，我很熱切地給你們寫信、論到我們所共有的救恩，就覺得必須給你們寫點兒來勸你們要為着儘一次傳授給聖徒們的信仰而奮力鬥勝。

你應該勒住他們的口。這種人為了可恥之利、教授所不該教授的，傾覆了人的全家。

故此要回想你怎樣領受，怎樣聽；務要執守，也要悔改。若不儆醒起來，我就像賊臨到，你決不能知道我在哪一時辰要臨到你。

不過你們所已有的，你們總要執守、直到我來。

你在許多見證人面前所從我聽見的、你要把這些教訓託付可信靠的人、將來能夠教導別人的。

我堅持我的正義，必不放鬆；我在世的任一日、我的心總必不責備我的。

在公眾面前極有力地駁倒猶太人，引經指明上帝所膏立的就是耶穌。

持守着正當的信仰和純善的良知。有些人把良知推開，就在信仰的事上破了船；

你凡事要顯出你自己是好行為的榜樣，在教導上不腐化，能莊重，言語健全、無可咎責、使反對的人沒有壞話可說我們、而自覺羞愧。

我必快來；你所有的、你要持守着，免得有人奪取了你的華冠。
