For afore the harvest, when the bud is perfect, and the sour grape is ripening in the flower, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and take away[ and] cut down the branches.

We then,[ as] workers together[ with him], beseech[ you] also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.( For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now[ is] the accepted time; behold, now[ is] the day of salvation.)

His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.

For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech[ you] by us: we pray[ you] in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us lodge in the villages.Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish,[ whether] the tender grape appear,[ and] the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee my loves.The mandrakes give a smell, and at our gates[ are] all manner of pleasant[ fruits], new and old,[ which] I have laid up for thee, O my beloved.

He spake also this parable; A certain[ man] had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?

Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things[ which belong] unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof: now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples;

Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless[ you].

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper[ in the thing] whereto I sent it.

I went down into the garden of nuts to see the fruits of the valley,[ and] to see whether the vine flourished,[ and] the pomegranates budded.

Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer[ is] nigh:
