我受日暴、色雖微黑、毋藐視我、昔同母之兄弟怒我、使我守葡萄園、我之葡萄園、反不得守、

Do not stare at me because I am dark, because I am darkened by the sun. My mother’s sons were angry with me and made me take care of the vineyards; my own vineyard I had to neglect.

Don’t stare at me because I’m dark. The sun has made my skin look like this. My brothers were angry with me. They made me take care of the vineyards. I haven’t even taken care of my own vineyard.

Do not gaze at me because I am dark, because the sun has looked upon me. My mother’s sons were angry with me; they made me keeper of the vineyards, but my own vineyard I have not kept!

我的族弟兄跟我生疏；我的同母弟兄拿我當外人。

所羅門有個葡萄園在巴力哈們；他將這葡萄園交給顧守的人；每人必須為了所得的果子交出一千錠銀子。但我的葡萄園、我自己的、在我面前；所羅門哪，一千錠儘管歸你，二百錠歸顧守果子的人吧！

日頭一出，就曬焦了；因為沒有根，便枯乾了。

你們必為我的名被眾人恨惡；惟獨堅忍到末終的，才能得救。

因為兒子辱沒着父親，女兒起來忤逆着母親，兒媳婦忤逆着婆婆；人的仇敵就是他自己家裏的人。

你們以為我來是將和平給地上麼？不，我告訴你們，倒是將分裂呢。從今以後、一家裏五個人必彼此分裂，三個對兩個，兩個對三個。人們必彼此分裂；父親對兒子，兒子對父親；母親對女兒，女兒對母親；婆婆對媳婦，媳婦對婆婆。』

神言人說：『為了我子民的破爛、我的心都破碎了；我悲傷哀悼，驚駭將我抓住。

學生和先生一樣，奴僕和主人一樣，也就夠了。人既給家主起外號叫別西卜，豈不更要給他家人起外號麼？

因為我來、是叫人跟父親割絕，女兒跟母親割絕，兒媳婦跟婆婆割絕；人的仇敵竟是他自己家裏的人。

現在他們的面貌比煤炭還黑，以致在街上人都不認識；他們的皮縮攏到骨頭上，枯乾像木頭。

但當時那只按普通程序生的怎樣逼迫那按靈生的，如今也這樣。

我的皮膚發黑而脫落；我的骨頭因熱而燒焦。

堅固門徒的心，鼓勵他們要堅守信仰。又說我們要進上帝的國、經由許多苦難是必須的。』

因為連你的族弟兄和你父的家都以詭詐待你，連這些人都大聲追喊着你；他們雖向你說好話，你可不要信他們。』

於是二人同行，來到伯利恆。她們到了伯利恆，全城都因他們而震動起來；婦女們說：『這是拿俄米麼？』拿俄米對他們說：『不要叫我拿俄米，要叫我瑪拉；因為全能者使我苦極了。我滿滿地出去，永恆主使我空空地回來；永恆主使我受苦，全能者降禍於我，你們為甚麼還叫我拿俄米呢？』
