but Israel even though pursuing a law of righteousness did not attain it.

but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal.

The people of Israel tried to obey the law to make themselves right with God. But they didn’t reach their goal of being right with God.

but that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness did not succeed in reaching that law.

But the people of Israel, who tried so hard to get right with God by keeping the law, never succeeded.

But Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not achieved the righteousness of the law.

however, Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law.

but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness.

but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law.

But Israel, pursuing the law for righteousness, has not achieved the righteousness of the law.

But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, didn’t arrive at the law of righteousness.

What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was diligently seeking, but the elect obtained it. The rest were hardened,

For the one who obeys the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.For he who said,“ Do not commit adultery,” also said,“ Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a violator of the law.

And I testify again to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.You who are trying to be declared righteous by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace!

In my zeal for God I persecuted the church. According to the righteousness stipulated in the law I was blameless.

For I can testify that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not in line with the truth.For ignoring the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking instead to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.For Christ is the end of the law, with the result that there is righteousness for everyone who believes.

For all who rely on doing the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written,“ Cursed is everyone who does not keep on doing everything written in the book of the law.”Now it is clear no one is justified before God by the law, because the righteous one will live by faith.

What shall we say then?– that the Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness obtained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith,but Israel even though pursuing a law of righteousness did not attain it.Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but( as if it were possible) by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone,

Is the law therefore opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that was able to give life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.

For if they become heirs by the law, faith is empty and the promise is nullified.For the law brings wrath, because where there is no law there is no transgression either.

“ Listen to me, you who pursue godliness, who seek the LORD! Look at the rock from which you were chiseled, at the quarry from which you were dug!

For no one is declared righteous before him by the works of the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
