蓋正如經之所言：『因爾之故、天主之名、為世詬病。』

As it is written:“ God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”

It is written,“ The Gentiles say evil things against God’s name because of you.”( Isaiah 52:5; Ezekiel 36:22)

For, as it is written,“ The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”

No wonder the Scriptures say,“ The Gentiles blaspheme the name of God because of you.”

For, as it is written: The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.

For“ the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” just as it is written.

For“ the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” as it is written.

For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you, even as it is written.

For, as it is written: The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.

For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

For just as it is written,“ the name of God is being blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”

For“ the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” just as it is written.

And wherever they went among the nations they profaned my holy name, for it was said of them,‘ These are the Lord’s people, and yet they had to leave his land.’I had concern for my holy name, which the people of Israel profaned among the nations where they had gone.“ Therefore say to the Israelites,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: It is not for your sake, people of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have gone.I will show the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, the name you have profaned among them. Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. (niv)

All who pass your way clap their hands at you; they scoff and shake their heads at Daughter Jerusalem:“ Is this the city that was called the perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth?”All your enemies open their mouths wide against you; they scoff and gnash their teeth and say,“ We have swallowed her up. This is the day we have waited for; we have lived to see it.” (niv)

But because by doing this you have shown utter contempt for the Lord, the son born to you will die.” (niv)

and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. (niv)

So I counsel younger widows to marry, to have children, to manage their homes and to give the enemy no opportunity for slander. (niv)

All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God’s name and our teaching may not be slandered. (niv)

Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come! (niv)

to be self- controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. (niv)
