且吾人亦不可昧於時義、須知今茲已為醒於睡夢之時。何則、吾人蒙救之日、已較初信之時、日近一日矣。

緣此、知時已屆、今宜自寐而寤、蓋我儕得救、較初信時為尤近、

凡此皆所當行、因知屆期、今宜寤矣、較我初信之時、福更近之、

既知斯時即爾由睡宜醒之時、則當遵此以行、蓋我儕得救、今較初信之時愈近矣、

And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

When you do these things, keep in mind the times we are living in. The hour has already come for you to wake up from your sleep. The full effects of our salvation are closer now than when we first believed in Christ.

Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.

This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

萬物之終局、已日近一日、爾其朝乾夕惕、儆醒祈禱。

蓋爾皆為光明之子、旦晝之人、非屬於暮夜與黑暗也。故吾人不欲效世人之醉生夢死、常宜昭昭惺惺、淡泊有節。蓋沉睡者必於昏夜、狂飲者亦必於昏夜。吾人既屬旦晝、可不恆懷惕若、終日乾乾、擁信愛以為甲、戴望德以為胄、而期待救恩乎。

故曰：睡者其興、死者其起！惟彼基督、光明照爾。

當朝乾夕惕孳孳為善、痛絕一切罪行。爾中頗有不識天主者焉！我之言此、爾等倘亦知恥乎。

是宜儆醒、因爾不知主來何時、恐於黃昏深夜、恐當雞鳴日出、突然駕返、見爾之睡也。予語爾者、亦以語眾、胥宜小心翼翼。』

於是吾人依據天主恩諾所盼望之新天新地、正義之所寓者、乃得而實現也。夫我良朋、既懷此殷望、則宜發憤為善、修身砥行、務使無瑕無玷俾可安心見主。吾主之寬裕容忍、正為吾人之福、當作如是觀也。關於此點、我親愛之兄弟葆樂、亦已按其所賦之智慧、寓書於爾矣。

至於此事實現之時日、亦無庸為爾書之。爾固明知主日之臨、突如其來。有如不速之客之夜襲也。人方曰：「平安無虞、」而倏忽之間、大難已臨其身、正如臨蓐之婦、欲避分娩之苦、未由也已。

此兆一見端倪、爾等當舉目翹首、蓋救贖之恩近矣。』

緣此、爾宜朝乾夕惕；蓋爾不知爾主蒞臨之日也。若家主知盜何時將至、則必儆醒守備、不令穴室。然則爾等亦當備諸；蓋不意之時、人子至矣。

啟示者曰：「信哉、吾必速臨！」吾曰：「心所願也！主耶穌可以降矣！」

凡若輩之種種遭遇、皆足為鑒、載之經籍、所以警我季世之人也。

「我來在即、其拭目以待！我攜有報應、各按其行以施之。

第有一語、不得不為兄弟告者、即人生在世、為日無多；故有妻當若無妻、有憂當若無憂、有樂當若無樂、有財當若無財、用世當若遺世；蓋斯世之形形色色、皆如雲煙過眼、瞬即杳矣。

比返、見門徒已睡、謂伯鐸祿曰：『竟不能與予儆守片時耶？宜警惕祈禱、庶免墮誘；心志雖堅、形軀實荏。』

新壻稽遲、皆假寐而寢。子夜忽有聲呼曰：「新壻來矣其出迎之！」眾女乃起而整燈。

朝見陰紫、爾曰必雨。爾何察於天象、而昧於時義耶？
