Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

敵飢則食之、渴則飲之、如是而行、猶以爇炭集厥首、

敵饑則飼之、渴則飲之、猶以爇炭集厥首、

爾敵饑則飼之、渴則飲之、爾如是行、猶以熱炭置於其首、

故曰：『敵人飢則食之、渴則飲之、是不啻以烈火加厥頂。』

On the contrary:“ If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Do just the opposite. Scripture says,“ If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. By doing those things, you will pile up burning coals on their heads.”( Proverbs 25:21, 22)

To the contrary,“ if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Instead,“ If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.”

But If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

If thou meet thine enemy’s ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again.If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.

And he answered, Thou shalt not smite[ them]: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.

Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love[ is] strong as death; jealousy[ is] cruel as the grave: the coals thereof[ are] coals of fire,[ which hath a] most vehement flame.Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if[ a] man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.

And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said,[ Is] this thy voice, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.And he said to David, Thou[ art] more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil.And thou hast shewed this day how that thou hast dealt well with me: forasmuch as when the LORD had delivered me into thine hand, thou killedst me not.For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go well away? wherefore the LORD reward thee good for that thou hast done unto me this day.

Then said Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David: for I will no more do thee harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly.

Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.
