For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.

But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?

Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.

Now there was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas. She was full of good works and acts of charity.In those days she became ill and died, and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him,“ Please come to us without delay.”So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them.But Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body he said,“ Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then, calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.

Now I urge you, brothers— you know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints—

and having a reputation for good works: if she has brought up children, has shown hospitality, has washed the feet of the saints, has cared for the afflicted, and has devoted herself to every good work.

You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my necessities and to those who were with me.In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Three seahs of fine flour! Knead it, and make cakes.”And Abraham ran to the herd and took a calf, tender and good, and gave it to a young man, who prepared it quickly.Then he took curds and milk and the calf that he had prepared, and set it before them. And he stood by them under the tree while they ate.

The two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them and bowed himself with his face to the earthand said,“ My lords, please turn aside to your servant’s house and spend the night and wash your feet. Then you may rise up early and go on your way.” They said,“ No; we will spend the night in the town square.”But he pressed them strongly; so they turned aside to him and entered his house. And he made them a feast and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

At present, however, I am going to Jerusalem bringing aid to the saints.For Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make some contribution for the poor among the saints at Jerusalem.For they were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have come to share in their spiritual blessings, they ought also to be of service to them in material blessings.When therefore I have completed this and have delivered to them what has been collected, I will leave for Spain by way of you.
