We have also obtained access through Him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance,endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope.

Instead, rejoice as you share in the sufferings of the Messiah, so that you may also rejoice with great joy at the revelation of His glory.

Therefore my heart is glad and my spirit rejoices; my body also rests securely.For You will not abandon me to Sheol; You will not allow Your Faithful One to see decay.You reveal the path of life to me; in Your presence is abundant joy; in Your right hand are eternal pleasures.

so that you won’t become lazy but will be imitators of those who inherit the promises through faith and perseverance.

Therefore, brothers, be patient until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth and is patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains.

And so, after waiting patiently, Abraham obtained the promise.

For it brings favor if, mindful of God’s will, someone endures grief from suffering unjustly.For what credit is there if you sin and are punished, and you endure it? But when you do what is good and suffer, if you endure it, this brings favor with God.

Rejoice always!Pray constantly.

knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.But endurance must do its complete work, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.

Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us,

May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience, with joy

All these were continually united in prayer, along with the women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, and His brothers.

Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving.

Epaphras, who is one of you, a slave of Christ Jesus, greets you. He is always contending for you in his prayers, so that you can stand mature and fully assured in everything God wills.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Remember the earlier days when, after you had been enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings.

But since we belong to the day, we must be serious and put the armor of faith and love on our chests, and put on a helmet of the hope of salvation.

But you, man of God, run from these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness.

Brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the Lord’s name as an example of suffering and patience.See, we count as blessed those who have endured. You have heard of Job’s endurance and have seen the outcome from the Lord. The Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

You will call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

If anyone is destined for captivity, into captivity he goes. If anyone is to be killed with a sword, with a sword he will be killed. This demands the perseverance and faith of the saints.

Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to His great mercy, He has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the deadand into an inheritance that is imperishable, uncorrupted, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.You are being protected by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.You rejoice in this, though now for a short time you have had to struggle in various trialsso that the genuineness of your faith— more valuable than gold, which perishes though refined by fire— may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.You love Him, though you have not seen Him. And though not seeing Him now, you believe in Him and rejoice with inexpressible and glorious joy,

May the Lord direct your hearts to God’s love and Christ’s endurance.

During His earthly life, He offered prayers and appeals with loud cries and tears to the One who was able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.

I waited patiently for the Lord, and He turned to me and heard my cry for help.

eternal life to those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality;

The hope of the righteous is joy, but the expectation of the wicked comes to nothing.

Now the end of all things is near; therefore, be serious and disciplined for prayer.

May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace,encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word.

Therefore, we ourselves boast about you among God’s churches— about your endurance and faith in all the persecutions and afflictions you endure.

But Christ was faithful as a Son over His household. And we are that household if we hold on to the courage and the confidence of our hope.

knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with godliness,

so that having been justified by His grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.

Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until daybreak.When the man saw that He could not defeat him, He struck Jacob’s hip socket as they wrestled and dislocated his hip.Then He said to Jacob,“ Let Me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob said,“ I will not let You go unless You bless me.”

Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.

Now this is the confidence we have before Him: Whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.And if we know that He hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked Him for.

We recall, in the presence of our God and Father, your work of faith, labor of love, and endurance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ,

For whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that we may have hope through endurance and through the encouragement from the Scriptures.

God wanted to make known among the Gentiles the glorious wealth of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Be silent before the Lord and wait expectantly for Him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the man who carries out evil plans.

He also said to them:“ Suppose one of you has a friend and goes to him at midnight and says to him,‘ Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I don’t have anything to offer him.’Then he will answer from inside and say,‘ Don’t bother me! The door is already locked, and my children and I have gone to bed. I can’t get up to give you anything.’I tell you, even though he won’t get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his friend’s persistence, he will get up and give him as much as he needs.“ So I say to you, keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead of a fish?Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”

while we wait for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

By your endurance gain your lives.

But the seed in the good ground— these are the ones who, having heard the word with an honest and good heart, hold on to it and by enduring, bear fruit.

I say: The Lord is my portion, therefore I will put my hope in Him.The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him.It is good to wait quietly for deliverance from the Lord.

You caused me to experience many troubles and misfortunes, but You will revive me again. You will bring me up again, even from the depths of the earth.You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.Therefore, I will praise You with a harp for Your faithfulness, my God; I will sing to You with a lyre, Holy One of Israel.My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to You because You have redeemed me.

However, don’t rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

He then told them a parable on the need for them to pray always and not become discouraged:“ There was a judge in a certain town who didn’t fear God or respect man.And a widow in that town kept coming to him, saying,‘ Give me justice against my adversary.’“ For a while he was unwilling, but later he said to himself,‘ Even though I don’t fear God or respect man,yet because this widow keeps pestering me, I will give her justice, so she doesn’t wear me out by her persistent coming.’”Then the Lord said,“ Listen to what the unjust judge says.Will not God grant justice to His elect who cry out to Him day and night? Will He delay to help them?I tell you that He will swiftly grant them justice. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find that faith on earth?”He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and looked down on everyone else:“ Two men went up to the temple complex to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.The Pharisee took his stand and was praying like this:‘ God, I thank You that I’m not like other people— greedy, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of everything I get.’“ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even raise his eyes to heaven but kept striking his chest and saying,‘ God, turn Your wrath from me— a sinner!’I tell you, this one went down to his house justified rather than the other; because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”Some people were even bringing infants to Him so He might touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.Jesus, however, invited them:“ Let the little children come to Me, and don’t stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.I assure you: Whoever does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”A ruler asked Him,“ Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”“ Why do you call Me good?” Jesus asked him.“ No one is good but One— God.You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery; do not murder; do not steal; do not bear false witness; honor your father and mother.”“ I have kept all these from my youth,” he said.When Jesus heard this, He told him,“ You still lack one thing: Sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”After he heard this, he became extremely sad, because he was very rich.Seeing that he became sad, Jesus said,“ How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”Those who heard this asked,“ Then who can be saved?”He replied,“ What is impossible with men is possible with God.”Then Peter said,“ Look, we have left what we had and followed You.”So He said to them,“ I assure you: There is no one who has left a house, wife or brothers, parents or children because of the kingdom of God,who will not receive many times more at this time, and eternal life in the age to come.”Then He took the Twelve aside and told them,“ Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem. Everything that is written through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished.For He will be handed over to the Gentiles, and He will be mocked, insulted, spit on;and after they flog Him, they will kill Him, and He will rise on the third day.”They understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp what was said.As He drew near Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road begging.Hearing a crowd passing by, he inquired what this meant.“ Jesus the Nazarene is passing by,” they told him.So he called out,“ Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”Then those in front told him to keep quiet, but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”Jesus stopped and commanded that he be brought to Him. When he drew near, He asked him,“ What do you want Me to do for you?”“ Lord,” he said,“ I want to see!”“ Receive your sight!” Jesus told him.“ Your faith has healed you.”Instantly he could see, and he began to follow Him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to the prayers.

Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Concerning this, I pleaded with the Lord three times to take it away from me.

Listen, my God, and hear. Open Your eyes and see our desolations and the city called by Your name. For we are not presenting our petitions before You based on our righteous acts, but based on Your abundant compassion.Lord, hear! Lord, forgive! Lord, listen and act! My God, for Your own sake, do not delay, because Your city and Your people are called by Your name.

You guide me with Your counsel, and afterward You will take me up in glory.Who do I have in heaven but You? And I desire nothing on earth but You.My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever.

But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with patience.

The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will restore him to health; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The urgent request of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.

So Peter was kept in prison, but prayer was being made earnestly to God for him by the church.

The wicked one is thrown down by his own sin, but the righteous one has a refuge in his death.

Because God wanted to show His unchangeable purpose even more clearly to the heirs of the promise, He guaranteed it with an oath,so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to seize the hope set before us.We have this hope as an anchor for our lives, safe and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.

But you have followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, and endurance,

For what hope does the godless man have when he is cut off, when God takes away his life?Will God hear his cry when distress comes on him?Will he delight in the Almighty? Will he call on God at all times?

But I call to God, and the Lord will save me.I complain and groan morning, noon, and night, and He hears my voice.

Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,yet I will triumph in Yahweh; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!

But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the preaching ministry.”

Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write to you again about this is no trouble for me and is a protection for you.

In return for my love they accuse me, but I continue to pray.
