do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.

So don’t think you are better than the other branches. Remember, you don’t give life to the root. The root gives life to you.

But you must not brag about being grafted in to replace the branches that were broken off. You are just a branch, not the root.

To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable:“ Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed:‘ God, I thank you that I am not like other people— robbers, evildoers, adulterers— or even like this tax collector. (niv)

If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. (niv)
