If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.

The first handful of dough that is offered is holy. This makes all of the dough holy. If the root is holy, so are the branches.

And since Abraham and the other patriarchs were holy, their descendants will also be holy— just as the entire batch of dough is holy because the portion given as an offering is holy. For if the roots of the tree are holy, the branches will be, too.

Now if the firstfruits are holy, so is the whole batch. And if the root is holy, so are the branches.

If the first piece of dough is holy, the lump is also; and if the root is holy, the branches are as well.

For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

“ Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you come into the land that I give you and reap its harvest, you shall bring the sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest to the priest,

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce;

And the first of all the firstfruits of all kinds, and every offering of all kinds from all your offerings, shall belong to the priests. You shall also give to the priests the first of your dough, that a blessing may rest on your house.

And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you come into the land to which I bring youand when you eat of the bread of the land, you shall present a contribution to the Lord.Of the first of your dough you shall present a loaf as a contribution; like a contribution from the threshing floor, so shall you present it.Some of the first of your dough you shall give to the Lord as a contribution throughout your generations.

But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree,

Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

You shall keep the Feast of Harvest, of the firstfruits of your labor, of what you sow in the field. You shall keep the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in from the field the fruit of your labor.

Yet I planted you a choice vine, wholly of pure seed. How then have you turned degenerate and become a wild vine?

And behold, now I bring the first of the fruit of the ground, which you, O Lord, have given me.’ And you shall set it down before the Lord your God and worship before the Lord your God.

“ The best of the firstfruits of your ground you shall bring into the house of the Lord your God.“ You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

We obligate ourselves to bring the firstfruits of our ground and the firstfruits of all fruit of every tree, year by year, to the house of the Lord;also to bring to the house of our God, to the priests who minister in the house of our God, the firstborn of our sons and of our cattle, as it is written in the Law, and the firstborn of our herds and of our flocks;and to bring the first of our dough, and our contributions, the fruit of every tree, the wine and the oil, to the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and to bring to the Levites the tithes from our ground, for it is the Levites who collect the tithes in all our towns where we labor.

For the unbelieving husband is made holy because of his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy because of her husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.

It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb,

“ You shall not delay to offer from the fullness of your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. The firstborn of your sons you shall give to me.

The firstfruits of your grain, of your wine and of your oil, and the first fleece of your sheep, you shall give him.
