顧彼既知上帝、而不以上帝榮之、亦不謝之、乃思議虛妄、心蠢而昧、

顧彼既知上帝、猶不以上帝尊之謝之、乃志意虛妄、心頑蒙昧、

彼雖知天主、不以天主尊之、亦不謝之、乃思念虛妄、心以頑而愈昧、

夫既知有天主矣乃又不以天主事之、而頌詠稱謝焉；復因鑿空蹈虛、流連忘返、以致其冥頑之心、淪於重昏。

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

They knew God. But they didn’t honor him as God. They didn’t thank him. Their thinking became worthless. Their foolish hearts became dark.

Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.

故我言之、且緣主勸之、爾之所行、毋復志意虛妄、如異邦人然、彼心思蒙昧、外乎上帝之生、因其無知而心頑也、

耶和華曰、爾祖視我有何不義、而遐棄我、從事虛無、成為虛妄乎、

違棄上帝之典章、及與其列祖所立之約、並戒之之言、從虛無而變為虛妄、效四周異邦、即耶和華所命勿效之者、

以感謝為祭者、即尊榮我、遵正道者、我必示以上帝之拯救兮、

乃大聲曰、宜畏上帝而榮歸之、蓋其鞫時至矣、亦宜拜造天地海及水源者、○

惟爾乃蒙選之族、王室之祭司、維聖之國、特設之民、俾彰召爾出幽暗入奇光者之德、

主歟、誰不畏懼而榮爾名乎、惟爾乃聖、萬邦必來拜於爾前、蓋爾之義端彰著矣、○

我則任其剛愎厥心、依己所謀而行兮、

緣知爾見贖、脫祖父所傳之妄行、非以金銀可壞之物、

蓋人將自私、好利、矜誇、驕傲、謗讟、逆親、辜恩、邪慝、

蓋所可知乎上帝者、彰於其衷、乃上帝彰之也、

是鞫也、因光臨世、而人愛暗愈於光、以其行惡也、

耶和華鑒觀世人、罪惡貫盈、心所圖維、恆為邪慝、

耶和華歟、爾為我力、我之保障、我難中之避所、列邦必自地極而至、曰、我祖所承者、莫非妄誕虛偽無益之物、

人皆冥頑無知、金匠因其雕像而羞慚、所鑄之像、乃為虛偽、內無氣息、悉屬虛無、惑人之工、譴責之際、俱必滅亡、

雖在日中、猶如瞽者暗中摸索、所行所為、不獲亨通、恆遭暴虐刦奪、無人救援、

彼不知五穀酒油、皆我所賜、增其金銀、而彼用以奉巴力、

主歟、爾所造之萬邦、必來拜於爾前、尊榮爾名兮、

我察而知、上帝造人、本為正直、而人所謀、機巧百出、

耶和華聞其馨香、意謂人自幼時、衷懷邪慝、嗣後我不緣之詛地、不復殄滅生物、如前所為、

彼知識中既不願有上帝、上帝遂任其喪心、行非宜之行、

其目矇而不見、其背終於傴僂、

造雕像者、悉為虛妄、其所悅者無益、彼之證者不見不知、必致愧怍、誰造神像、或鑄無益之偶、凡宗之者、咸生愧赧、造之之工、世人而已、任其聚會、屹立於此、必同戰慄、而慚恧焉、鐵工熾炭鍛之、以鎚治之、竭一臂之力、而製造之、飢而疲乏、渴而困憊、木工布繩、畫之以筆、治之以鐋、正之以規、象人之形、猶人之美、處之於室、更伐香柏、亦取橡櫟、皆林木之堅者、或植杉木、得雨露之養、人取之為薪、用之暖體、燃之烘餅、或以之作神像、而崇拜之、雕偶像、而俯伏於其前、半以燃火、半以炙肉、食之果腹、復暖其身、曰、噫、我既溫暖、亦既觀火、尚有餘木、用之造神、以為雕像、俯伏拜之、禱曰、爾其救予、蓋爾為我神也、維彼不知不思、其目障翳不見、其心蒙蔽不明、無人想念、無知識、無聰明、不云材木之半、我已焚之以火、烘餅於炭、半以炙肉食之、豈可用其餘者、而作可憎之物、俯伏以拜木榦乎、彼乃食灰、中心昏迷、使之離途、弗能自救、不知自言、我之右手所執、非虛誕乎、○

敵以鈎釣之、以罟捕之、以網集之、緣此歡欣喜樂、獻祭於其罟、焚香於其網、因其由此所得者肥、所食者豐也、

亦俾異邦因其矜恤而榮之、經云、緣此、我將於異邦中稱頌爾、謳歌爾名、

幽暗將蒙大地、晦冥將蔽兆民、惟耶和華必起而臨爾、其榮顯於爾中、

列邦之例虛偽、有人由林伐木、匠人以斧製之、以銀與金飾之、以鎚與釘釘之、使不動搖、依椶樹之形鏇之、彼不能言、亦不能行、須人舁之、不能作惡、無能行善、爾勿畏之、耶和華歟、無如爾者、惟爾為大、爾名大有能力、萬國之王歟、孰不宜寅畏爾、此為爾所應得、列邦智者顯厥尊榮、無如爾者、彼皆冥頑無知、偶像之道、惟木而已、

即今遣爾就之者、俾啟其目、使之離暗就光、脫撒但之權、而歸上帝、致得罪赦、同獲因信成聖之業、

其一見己已愈、返而大聲歸榮上帝、伏耶穌足下稱謝之、彼乃撒瑪利亞人也、耶穌曰、潔者非十人乎、其九安在、此異族人之外、未見返而歸榮上帝者、
