“ He said to me,‘ Go, because I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”

This is why I endure all things for the elect: so that they also may obtain salvation, which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

I will rescue you from your people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to themto open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

When the local people saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to one another,“ This man, no doubt, is a murderer. Even though he has escaped the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live.”

A road will be there and a way; it will be called the Holy Way. The unclean will not travel on it, but it will be for the one who walks the path. Fools will not wander on it.

For if I preach the gospel, I have no reason to boast, because I am compelled to preach— and woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!For if I do this willingly, I have a reward, but if unwillingly, I am entrusted with a commission.What then is my reward? To preach the gospel and offer it free of charge and not make full use of my rights in the gospel.Although I am free from all and not anyone’s slave, I have made myself a slave to everyone, in order to win more people.To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win Jews; to those under the law, like one under the law— though I myself am not under the law— to win those under the law.To those who are without the law, like one without the law— though I am not without God’s law but under the law of Christ— to win those without the law.To the weak I became weak, in order to win the weak. I have become all things to all people, so that I may by every possible means save some.Now I do all this because of the gospel, so that I may share in the blessings.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without pretense.And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who cultivate peace.

The report of your obedience has reached everyone. Therefore I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise about what is good, and yet innocent about what is evil.

I don’t want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you will not be conceited: A partial hardening has come upon Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.

We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people.

For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved by various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another.

Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation.

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the intelligence of the intelligent.Where is the one who is wise? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish?For since, in God’s wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of what is preached.For the Jews ask for signs and the Greeks seek wisdom,

So then, brothers and sisters, we are not obligated to the flesh to live according to the flesh,

Claiming to be wise, they became fools

Do not owe anyone anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

At that time he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,“ I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, because this was your good pleasure.

For we don’t dare classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. But in measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves to themselves, they lack understanding.

Therefore, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I will be a foreigner to the speaker, and the speaker will be a foreigner to me.

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks he is wise in this age, let him become a fool so that he can become wise.

The local people showed us extraordinary kindness. They lit a fire and took us all in, since it was raining and cold.

Otherwise, if you praise with the spirit, how will the outsider say“ Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not know what you are saying?

If, therefore, the whole church assembles together and all are speaking in tongues and people who are outsiders or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your minds?But if all are prophesying and some unbeliever or outsider comes in, he is convicted by all and is called to account by all.

For you, being so wise, gladly put up with fools!

At that time Jesus said,“ I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants.

“ How long, inexperienced ones, will you love ignorance? How long will you mockers enjoy mocking and you fools hate knowledge?

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk— not as unwise people but as wise—making the most of the time, because the days are evil.So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Learn to be shrewd, you who are inexperienced; develop common sense, you who are foolish.
