And they began to beg him not to order them to depart into the abyss.

The beast you saw was, and is not, but is about to come up from the abyss and then go to destruction. The inhabitants of the earth– all those whose names have not been written in the book of life since the foundation of the world– will be astounded when they see that the beast was, and is not, but is to come.

But understand this, that in the last days difficult times will come.For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self- control, savage, opposed to what is good,treacherous, reckless, conceited, loving pleasure rather than loving God.They will maintain the outward appearance of religion but will have repudiated its power. So avoid people like these.

Then I saw an angel descending from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the abyss and a huge chain.

They have as king over them the angel of the abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon.The first woe has passed, but two woes are still coming after these things!Then the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a single voice coming from the horns on the golden altar that is before God,

However, the one who holds him back will do so until he is taken out of the way,and then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will destroy by the breath of his mouth and wipe out by the manifestation of his arrival.

And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are too, and they will be tormented there day and night forever and ever.

Look how you have fallen from the sky, O shining one, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the ground, O conqueror of the nations!

The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
