When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained;

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained.

The Lamb broke open the fifth seal. I saw souls under the altar. They were the souls of people who had been killed. They had been killed because of God’s word and their faithful witness.

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne.

They will ban you from the synagogue, yet an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering a service to God.

I, John, your brother and fellow participant in the tribulation and kingdom and perseverance in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you with great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time.”And when the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child.But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly into the wilderness to her place, where she* was nourished for a time, times, and half a time, away from the presence of the serpent.And the serpent hurled water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood.But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon had hurled out of his mouth.So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

Then I fell at his feet to worship him. But he* said to me,“ Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brothers and sisters who hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.And if anyone wants to harm them, fire flows out of their mouth and devours their enemies; and so if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this way.These have the power to shut up the sky, so that rain will not fall during the days of their prophesying; and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them and kill them.

who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, everything that he saw.

Another angel came and stood at the altar, holding a golden censer; and much incense was given to him, so that he might add it to the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar which was before the throne.

Then the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God,

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.

But I am hard pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better;

but we are of good courage and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.

The priest shall also put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense which is before the Lord in the tent of meeting; and all the rest of the blood of the bull he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the doorway of the tent of meeting.

But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all.
