又有一兆、顯見於天：有巨龍、赤色、七首十角、冠七冕、

婦乃遁跡曠野、天主早為之所、且令人養之一千六百有六十日。

婦受恩賜、得大鷹之雙翼、飛入曠野、匿於其所、在彼就養者歷時一載、又二載、又半載、以避斯蛇。

至爾所見之婦、即統治天下萬王之大都邑者也。

吾又見婦人已因暢飲眾聖及諸為耶穌致命者之血、而酩酊矣。吾對之不勝驚訝駭異之至。天神語予曰：胡驚異為？吾欲告爾以此婦及其所乘七首十角之獸之秘密。

渠乃攝吾神魂至一喬嶽之巔、示吾以聖邑耶路撒冷。聖邑發自天主、帶天主之光輝、自天而降、

爾時吾見一獸自海中出、十角七首、上有十冕、首上僭號無數。此獸望之若豹、其足若熊、其口若獅；龍以己之權位威力授之。吾見其一首似已中傷瀕死、後竟醫治獲愈；普世奇之、翕然風從。人見龍之以權授獸、故拜龍兼拜獸曰：「猗歟盛哉、獸之為德！舉世無雙、天下無敵！」獸且賦有口才、大言不慚、荒謬絕倫；秉權作孽四十有二月。開口謗讟天主、褻瀆聖名與閟帷、侮慢天上諸神諸聖。

此中有妙義焉：七首者、即此婦所坐鎮之七山、亦即七王；就中五者已隕一尚存、一將至；及其至也、當有片時停留；而一現即逝之獸、其本身即為第八、出於第七、而歸於消滅。爾所見之十角亦十王也、至今未秉國鈞、後當與獸同享王權、亦只片晷。

婦人披紫着朱、飾金珠寶石、手執金樽、樽中滿貯淫亂眾穢、及無恥之事；

反抗基督、妄自尊大、目中不復有所謂天主或可敬者、彼且坐於天主聖殿、而自炫其為天主焉。

值主日、我正凝思出神、忽聞大聲於我後、如吹角曰：

恍惚中、神魂被攝見有寶座設於天、上有坐者。

方自水升、主神忽攝斐理伯以去、宦者不復見之；欣然就道。
