耶和華－以色列的神對我如此說：「你從我手中拿這杯憤怒的酒，給我所差遣你去的各國的百姓喝。他們喝了就要東倒西歪，並要發狂，因我使刀劍臨到他們中間。」

他們的屍首將倒在大城的街道上；這城按着靈意叫所多瑪，又叫埃及，就是他們的主釘十字架的地方。

在她額上寫着奧祕的名字，說：「大巴比倫，世上的淫婦和一切可憎之物的母。」

說：「禍哉，禍哉，這大城！她穿着細麻、紫色、朱紅色的衣服，用金子、寶石、珍珠為妝飾。一時之間，這麼多的財富就歸於無有了。」所有的船長和到處航海的，水手以及所有靠海為業的，都遠遠地站着，看見燒她的煙，就喊着說：「有哪一個城能跟這大城比呢？」於是他們把灰塵撒在頭上，哭泣悲哀地喊着說：「禍哉，禍哉，這大城！凡有船在海中的，都因她的珍寶成了富足。她在一時之間就成為荒蕪。

另有第二位天使接着說：「傾覆了！那曾叫列國喝淫亂、烈怒之酒的大巴比倫傾覆了！」另有第三位天使接着他們，大聲說：「若有人拜那隻獸和獸像，在額上或在手上受了印記，他也必喝神烈怒的酒；這酒是斟在神憤怒的杯中的純酒。他要在聖天使和羔羊面前，在火與硫磺之中受痛苦。

北方遠近的諸王，以及天下、地面上的萬國也一個一個都喝了，以後示沙克王也要喝。

他以強而有力的聲音喊着說：「傾覆了！大巴比倫傾覆了！她成了鬼魔的住處，各樣污穢之靈的巢穴，各樣污穢之鳥的窩，各樣污穢可憎之獸的出沒處。
