不堪瘡痍之苦、而謗讟天主；猶不知痛悔諸業、而改絃易轍。

They spoke evil things against the God of heaven. They did this because of their pains and their sores. But they refused to turn away from the sins they had committed.

人被大炎熱一烤，就褻瀆那有權柄掌管這些災殃的上帝之名，並不悔改而將榮耀獻與上帝。

第一位就去，把他那一碗倒在地上；就有惡而且毒的瘡生在那些有獸印記拜獸像的人身上。

又有大雹子、重約一百磅、從天上落到人身上。由於雹災、因這災殃極大、人就褻瀆上帝。

就在那時就發生了大地震；那城有十分之一倒壞了。在地震中遭難而死的人有七千名；其餘的人都很懼怕，就把榮耀獻與天上的上帝。

我給了她時間、讓她悔改；她又不願意改悔她的淫亂。

『我、我亞達薛西王又下了諭旨給大河以西那邊所有的司庫官，說：那精於天上上帝之律法的經學士、祭司以斯拉、無論向你們要甚麼，你們總要充分周到地備辦：

要他們對這機密的事祈求天上的上帝施憐憫，免得但以理和他的同伴跟巴比倫其餘的博士一同滅亡。這機密的事就在夜間異象中給但以理顯示出來了。但以理便祝頌天上的上帝。

『波斯王古列這麼說：「永恆主天上的上帝已將地上萬國都賜給我，是他委派了我在猶大的耶路撒冷為他建殿。你們中間凡做他子民的都可以上去。願永恆主他的上帝與他同在。」』

而惡人和騙子總會進到更壞，迷惑人也受人迷惑。

我聽見了這些話，就坐下來哭，悲哀了幾天；在天上的上帝面前禁食祈禱，

『諸王之王亞達薛西、給祭司以斯拉、精於天上上帝之律法的經學士、致意問安：如今

他們這樣回答我們說：「我們是天地之上帝的僕人，正在重建這多年以前所建造的殿，就是以色列一位偉大的王所建造所築完的。只因我們的列祖激了天上之上帝的震怒，上帝把他們交在迦勒底人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒手中，尼布甲尼撒便將這殿拆毁，又將人民擄到巴比倫去。

凡天上之上帝所曉諭的、總要為天上之上帝的殿正正確確地備辦，免得上帝的震怒臨到了王和王眾子的國。

好叫他們供獻悅神之祭給天上的上帝，又為王和王眾子的性命而切求。

你們要稱謝天上的上帝，因為他堅固的愛永遠長存。

王問我說：『那麼你要求甚麼？』於是我禱告天上的上帝，

當那些王在位的日子，天上的上帝必另立一國、永不被滅；其政權也不留歸別族的人；它卻要砸碎而消滅那一切國；它必存立到永遠；

他對他們說：『我是個希伯來人；我敬畏的是耶和華，天上的上帝、那造大海和旱地的。』
