The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.

巨龙又使怪兽说狂妄、亵渎的话，并给它权柄，可以任意妄为四十二个月。

它的尾巴将天上三分之一的星扫落到地上。巨龙站在那正要生产的妇人面前，等着要吃掉她生下来的婴孩。

但那妇人得到一对巨鹰的翅膀，使她能飞到旷野，去上帝为她预备的地方避难，在那里被照顾三年半。

“你离开这里，往东去，到约旦河以东的基立溪旁躲起来。你可以喝基立溪的水，我已吩咐乌鸦在那里供应你食物。”以利亚遵从耶和华的话，到约旦河东的基立溪旁住下来。乌鸦每天早晚为他叼来饼和肉，他喝溪里的水。

于是魔鬼离开了耶稣，这时有天使前来伺候祂。

自己在旷野走了一天的路程，来到一棵罗腾树下，坐下来祷告求死，说：“耶和华啊，我受够了，求你取走我的性命吧，我不比我的祖先强。”他躺在树下睡着了。有一位天使拍醒他，说：“起来吃东西吧。”他睁开眼睛，见头边有用炭火烤好的饼和一瓶水。他吃喝完毕，又躺下来。耶和华的天使第二次来拍醒他，说：“起来吃东西吧，你还要走很远的路。”以利亚起来吃喝，就有了力气，走了四十昼夜，来到上帝的山——何烈山。

“你去西顿的撒勒法，我已吩咐那里的一个寡妇供养你。”他来到撒勒法的城门口，看见一个寡妇在捡柴，就对她说：“请给我一点水喝。”那妇人去拿水的时候，以利亚又说：“请给我拿一点饼。”她说：“我凭你的上帝——永活的耶和华起誓，我没有饼，我坛里只有一把面，瓶里只有一点油。我来捡柴就是要回去做饼，与儿子吃完后，就只能等死了。”以利亚说：“不要害怕，你可以照你所说的去做饼，只是你要先做一小块饼给我，然后再做给你和你儿子。因为以色列的上帝耶和华说，‘在耶和华降雨之前，你坛里的面和瓶里的油必不会空。’”那妇人就依照以利亚的话做了。妇人一家和以利亚就这样吃了许多天，坛里的面没有用完，瓶里的油也没有用光，应验了耶和华借以利亚说的话。
