你們是出於你們的父魔鬼的；你們的父的私慾、你們才願意行。他從起初就是殺人的，不站立在真實上，因為在他裏面沒有真實。他說謊言時，乃由本性說出來，因為他是撒謊者，是撒謊者的父。

於是大龍被摔下：大龍就是古蛇，叫魔鬼又叫撒但的，就是那迷惑普天下的。他被摔在地上，他的使者也同他被摔下。

希律王聽見了，就震盪不安，全耶路撒冷也同他一樣；他就召集了眾祭司長和民間的經學士，向他們查問基督應當生在甚麼地方。他們對他說：『在猶太的伯利恆；因為藉着神言人所記的是這樣說：「猶大地的伯利恆啊，你在猶大的首要鄉村中並不是最小的；因為必有一位執政者由你而出，就是要牧養我人民以色列的。」』當下希律祕密地召了占星家來，仔細向他們查問那星出現是甚麼時候；就打發他們往伯利恆去，說：『你們去仔細探問那小孩子的事；找着了，就報告我，我也好去拜他。』他們聽了王的話，就去；忽然他們在東方所看見的那星、在前頭領着他們，直到到了小孩子所在的地方，就在上頭停住了。他們看見那星，就大大歡喜，極為快樂。進了房子，看見小孩子同他母親馬利亞，便俯伏拜他，揭開了寶盒，將黃金乳香沒藥等禮物獻給他。他們因為夢中得了神諭不要折回去見希律，就從別條路回自己地方去了。他們回去以後，忽有主的一個使者向約瑟夢中顯現說：『起來，帶着小孩子和他母親，逃往埃及去，在那裏我吩咐你怎樣作；因為希律將要尋找小孩子來殺滅他。』約瑟便起來，就在夜間帶着小孩子和他母親，退到埃及；他在那裏，直到希律死了。這是要應驗主藉神言人所說的話，說：『我召了我的兒子從埃及出來。』希律見自己被占星家愚弄了，就極其惱怒，便差遣人將伯利恆裏面和全境界所有的男孩子，照他向占星家仔細查問得到的時候，從兩歲和以下的都殺掉了。

你們要冷靜戒備着，儆醒着。告你們的對頭、魔鬼、如同咆哮的獅子走來走去，尋找可吞喫的人。

你所看見的婦人就是那大城、那有國權管轄地上列王的。』
