Blessed is the one you discipline, Lord, the one you teach from your law;

Joyful are those you discipline, Lord, those you teach with your instructions.

LORD, how happy is anyone you discipline and teach from your law

How blessed is the one whom you instruct, O LORD, the one whom you teach from your law,

My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke,because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. (niv)

And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,“ My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?If you are not disciplined— and everyone undergoes discipline— then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness.No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. (niv)

Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world. (niv)

It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. (niv)

he may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings,to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride,to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword.“ Or someone may be chastened on a bed of pain with constant distress in their bones,so that their body finds food repulsive and their soul loathes the choicest meal.Their flesh wastes away to nothing, and their bones, once hidden, now stick out.They draw near to the pit, and their life to the messengers of death.Yet if there is an angel at their side, a messenger, one out of a thousand, sent to tell them how to be upright,and he is gracious to that person and says to God,‘ Spare them from going down to the pit; I have found a ransom for them—let their flesh be renewed like a child’s; let them be restored as in the days of their youth’— (niv)

Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. (niv)
