I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am like one without strength.

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.

Yes, this anguish was good for me, for you have rescued me from death and forgiven all my sins.For the dead cannot praise you; they cannot raise their voices in praise. Those who go down to the grave can no longer hope in your faithfulness.

“ What will you gain if I die, if I sink into the grave? Can my dust praise you? Can it tell of your faithfulness?

I sank down to the very roots of the mountains. I was imprisoned in the earth, whose gates lock shut forever. But you, O Lord my God, snatched me from the jaws of death!

Although he was crucified in weakness, he now lives by the power of God. We, too, are weak, just as Christ was, but when we deal with you we will be alive with him and will have God’s power.
