Therefore the Lord heard and was full of wrath; And a fire was kindled against Jacob, And anger also mounted against Israel,

故此永恆主聽見，就震怒；有烈火向雅各燒起；有怒氣向以色列上騰；

耶和華聽了就動怒，烈火向雅各燃起，怒氣也向以色列上騰；

耶和華聞之而怒、忿熾於雅各、怒騰於以色列兮、

耶和華聞此、震怒雅各家、以色列族、勢若烈燄兮、

主聞之甚不悅、向雅各氣如烈火、向以色列人大震厥怒、

雅瑋聞語。炎炎其忿。其忿緣何。

When the Lord heard them, he was furious; his fire broke out against Jacob, and his wrath rose against Israel,

When the Lord heard what they said, he was very angry. His anger broke out like fire against the people of Jacob. He became very angry with Israel.

for our God is a consuming fire.

For a fire has flared in My anger, And it burns to the lowest part of Sheol, And devours the earth with its yield, And sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.

Now the people became like those who complain of adversity in the ears of the Lord; and the Lord heard them and His anger was kindled, and the fire of the Lord burned among them and consumed some at the outskirts of the camp.The people then cried out to Moses; and Moses prayed to the Lord, and the fire died out.So that place was named Taberah, because the fire of the Lord burned among them.

Now Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, each one at the entrance of his tent; and the anger of the Lord became very hot, and Moses was displeased.

The anger of God rose against them And killed some of their strongest ones, And subdued the choice men of Israel.

Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

Now I want to remind you, though you know everything once and for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe.

Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased; for their dead bodies were spread out in the wilderness.
