But God[ is] the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.

God is the one who judges. He says to one person,“ You are guilty.” To another he says,“ You are not guilty.”

but it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another.

It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall.

for God is the Judge: He brings down one and exalts another.

He hath put down the mighty from[ their] seats, and exalted them of low degree.

And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what[ is] in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and[ that] your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.He raiseth up the poor out of the dust,[ and] lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set[ them] among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth[ are] the LORD’S, and he hath set the world upon them.

And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine,[ that is] better than thou.

And David said unto Michal,[ It was] before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.

And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, Ye sought for David in times past[ to be] king over you:Now then do[ it]: for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.

And command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters;I have made the earth, the man and the beast that[ are] upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him.And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son’s son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him.And it shall come to pass,[ that] the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.

And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust,[ and] lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;That he may set[ him] with princes,[ even] with the princes of his people.

Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.

For rebellion[ is as] the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness[ is as] iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from[ being] king.

But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called[ me] by his grace,

So that a man shall say, Verily[ there is] a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:

Thou, O king,[ art] a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.

For if the casting away of them[ be] the reconciling of the world, what[ shall] the receiving[ of them be], but life from the dead?
