行潦勿淹予、深淵勿沉予、幽冥勿陷予兮、

使我不隨波逐浪、不為深淵所淹沒、不容坑坎陷我而封其口、

拔我兮泥中。脫我兮諸兇。

Do not let the floodwaters engulf me or the depths swallow me up or the pit close its mouth over me.

Don’t let the floods cover me. Don’t let the deep water swallow me up. Don’t let the grave close its mouth over me.

Let not the flood sweep over me, or the deep swallow me up, or the pit close its mouth over me.

Don’t let the floods overwhelm me, or the deep waters swallow me, or the pit of death devour me.

But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel:“ Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.

whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.

So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood.But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.

And he said:“ I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction, And He answered me.“ Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, And You heard my voice.For You cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, And the floods surrounded me; All Your billows and Your waves passed over me.Then I said,‘ I have been cast out of Your sight; Yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.’The waters surrounded me, even to my soul; The deep closed around me; Weeds were wrapped around my head.I went down to the moorings of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed behind me forever; Yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O Lord, my God.“ When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord; And my prayer went up to You, Into Your holy temple.

So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly.Then all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said,“ Lest the earth swallow us up also!”

I am counted with those who go down to the pit; I am like a man who has no strength,Adrift among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom You remember no more, And who are cut off from Your hand.You have laid me in the lowest pit, In darkness, in the depths.

Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul;Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul.”

he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
