When you ascended on high, you took many captives; you received gifts from people, even from the rebellious— that you, Lord God, might dwell there.

When he went up to his place on high, he took many prisoners. He received gifts from people, even from those who refused to obey him. The Lord God went up to live on Mount Zion.

When you ascended to the heights, you led a crowd of captives. You received gifts from the people, even from those who rebelled against you. Now the Lord God will live among us there.

You ascend on high, you have taken many captives. You receive tribute from men, including even sinful rebels. Indeed the LORD God lives there!

Therefore it says,“ When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.”( In saying,“ He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower regions, the earth?He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)

“ Awake, awake, Deborah! Awake, awake, break out in a song! Arise, Barak, lead away your captives, O son of Abinoam.

He forsook his dwelling at Shiloh, the tent where he dwelt among mankind,

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place?

God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.

And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,“ Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.

who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him.

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared,he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

The Lord says to my Lord:“ Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.”

until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said,“ you heard from me;for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”So when they had come together, they asked him,“ Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”He said to them,“ It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.

Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

Jesus answered him,“ If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

The circumference of the city shall be 18,000 cubits. And the name of the city from that time on shall be, The Lord is There.”

So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said,“ Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven.

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:“ I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said,“ I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.

And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle!Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory! Selah

[[ Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.

Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,

and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily,

“ But will God indeed dwell with man on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this house that I have built!

Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says,“‘ The Lord said to my Lord,“ Sit at my right hand,until I make your enemies your footstool.”’Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,“ Brothers, what shall we do?”And Peter said to them,“ Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying,“ Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.

let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

For the Lord has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place:“ This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it.

Go and learn what this means:‘ I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief,and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.

“ How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge?If you turn at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.

Thus it is written,“ The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual.The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven.

Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered about you; over it return on high.

As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.“ To the angel of the church in Ephesus write:‘ The words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
