斯世之人、由尊逮卑、咸尚虛妄、若權衡之、輕於呼吸之氣兮。

世間人無論尊卑、皆屬虛妄、若置之權衡、必然浮起、悉輕於虛空、悉輕於虛空或作比呼吸之氣尤輕

吾民其恃主。向主披肺腑。雖在危厄終必安。主是吾人停泊所。

Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.

Surely ordinary people are only a breath. Important people are not what they seem to be. If they were weighed on a scale, they wouldn’t amount to anything. Together they are only a breath.

Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath.

Common people are as worthless as a puff of wind, and the powerful are not what they appear to be. If you weigh them on the scales, together they are lighter than a breath of air.

Common people are only a vapor; important people, an illusion. Together on a scale, they weigh less than a vapor.

Surely men of low degree are a vapor, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales, They are altogether lighter than vapor.

Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: In the balances they will go up; They are together lighter than vanity.

Men are only a vapor; exalted men, an illusion. Weighed in the scales, they go up; together they are less than a vapor.

Surely men of low degree[ are] vanity,[ and] men of high degree[ are] a lie: to be laid in the balance, they[ are] altogether[ lighter] than vanity.

Men are nothing but a mere breath; human beings are unreliable. When they are weighed in the scales, all of them together are lighter than air.

Surely men of low degree are just a breath, and men of high degree are a lie. In the balances they will go up. They are together lighter than a breath.

Behold, You have made my days like hand widths, And my lifetime as nothing in Your sight; Certainly all mankind standing is a mere breath. Selah

Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, And are regarded as a speck of dust on the scales; Behold, He lifts up the islands like fine dust.

All the nations are as nothing before Him, They are regarded by Him as less than nothing and meaningless.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in noblemen.

With rebukes You punish a person for wrongdoing; You consume like a moth what is precious to him; Certainly all mankind is mere breath! Selah

Then David said,“ Will the citizens of Keilah hand me and my men over to Saul?” And the Lord said,“ They will hand you over.”

For Saul thought,“ I will give her to him so that she may become a trap for him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him.” Therefore Saul said to David,“ For a second time you may become my son in law, today.”Then Saul commanded his servants,“ Speak to David in secret, saying,‘ Behold, the king delights in you, and all his servants love you; now then, become the king’s son in law.’ ”So Saul’s servants spoke these words to David. But David said,“ Is it trivial in your sight to become the king’s son in law, since I am only a poor man and insignificant?”Then Saul’s servants reported to him, saying,“ These are the words David spoke.”Saul then said,“ This is what you shall say to David:‘ The king does not desire any dowry except a hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to take vengeance on the king’s enemies.’ ” But Saul plotted to have David fall by the hand of the Philistines.When his servants told David these words, it pleased David to become the king’s son in law. So before the time had expired,

Then Ziphites came up to Saul at Gibeah, saying,“ Is David not keeping himself hidden with us in the strongholds at Horesh, on the hill of Hachilah, which is south of Jeshimon?Now then, O king, come down, since you fully desire to do so; and our part shall be to hand him over to the king.”

Now someone informed David, saying,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said,“ Lord, please make the advice of Ahithophel foolish.”

Far from it! Rather, God must prove to be true, though every person be found a liar, as it is written:“ So that You are justified in Your words, And prevail when You are judged.”

Absalom dealt this way with all Israel who came to the king for judgment; so Absalom stole the hearts of the people of Israel.

I said in my alarm,“ All people are liars.”

And David went into battle wherever Saul sent him, and always achieved success; so Saul put him in charge of the men of war. And it was pleasing in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.

Then Saul said,“ I have sinned. Return, my son David, for I will not harm you again since my life was precious in your sight this day. Behold, I have played the fool and have made a very great mistake.”David replied,“ Behold, the spear of the king! Now have one of the young men come over and take it.And the Lord will repay each man for his righteousness and his faithfulness; for the Lord handed you over to me today, but I refused to reach out with my hand against the Lord’s anointed.Therefore behold, just as your life was highly valued in my sight this day, so may my life be highly valued in the sight of the Lord, and may He rescue me from all distress.”Then Saul said to David,“ Blessed are you, my son David; you will both accomplish much and assuredly prevail.” So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.

So they shouted,“ Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him!” Pilate* said to them,“ Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered,“ We have no king except Caesar.”

The women sang as they played, and said,“ Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.”

Now the crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting,“ Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest!”

But it is you, a man my equal, My companion and my confidant;We who had sweet fellowship together, Walked in the house of God among the commotion.
