After this David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.And he defeated Moab and he measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground. Two lines he measured to be put to death, and one full line to be spared. And the Moabites became servants to David and brought tribute.

And he said,“ The Lord has broken through my enemies before me like a breaking flood.” Therefore the name of that place is called Baal-perazim.And the Philistines left their idols there, and David and his men carried them away.And the Philistines came up yet again and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim.And when David inquired of the Lord, he said,“ You shall not go up; go around to their rear, and come against them opposite the balsam trees.And when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then rouse yourself, for then the Lord has gone out before you to strike down the army of the Philistines.”And David did as the Lord commanded him, and struck down the Philistines from Geba to Gezer.

Then Sibbecai the Hushathite struck down Saph, who was one of the descendants of the giants.And there was again war with the Philistines at Gob, and Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, the Bethlehemite, struck down Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.And there was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number, and he also was descended from the giants.And when he taunted Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei, David’s brother, struck him down.These four were descended from the giants in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
