They wander about for food and howl if not satisfied.

They wander around looking for food. They groan if they don’t find something that will satisfy them.

They wander about for food and growl if they do not get their fill.

They scavenge for food but go to sleep unsatisfied.

They scavenge for food; they growl if they are not satisfied.

They wander about for food And murmur if they are not satisfied.

They wander up and down for food, And howl if they are not satisfied.

Thus saith Jehovah concerning the prophets that make my people to err; that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and whoso putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him:

The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: The young children ask bread, and no man breaketh it unto them.They that did feed delicately are desolate in the streets: They that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills.

And they shall pass through it, sore distressed and hungry; and it shall come to pass that, when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse by their king and by their God, and turn their faces upward:

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and earthquakes in divers places.But all these things are the beginning of travail.

They that are slain with the sword are better than they that are slain with hunger; For these pine away, stricken through, for want of the fruits of the field.The hands of the pitiful women have boiled their own children; They were their food in the destruction of the daughter of my people.

Yea, the dogs are greedy, they can never have enough; and these are shepherds that cannot understand: they have all turned to their own way, each one to his gain, from every quarter.

We get our bread at the peril of our lives, Because of the sword of the wilderness.

therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies that Jehovah shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, Whose fathers I disdained to set with the dogs of my flock.Yea, the strength of their hands, whereto should it profit me? Men in whom ripe age is perished.They are gaunt with want and famine; They gnaw the dry ground, in the gloom of wasteness and desolation.They pluck salt- wort by the bushes; And the roots of the broom are their food.They are driven forth from the midst of men; They cry after them as after a thief;So that they dwell in frightful valleys, In holes of the earth and of the rocks.Among the bushes they bray; Under the nettles they are gathered together.

And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass’s head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.And he said, If Jehovah do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the threshing- floor, or out of the winepress?And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to- day, and we will eat my son to- morrow.So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him; and she hath hid her son.
