Then Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him, in order to put him to death in the morning. But Michal, David’s wife, informed him, saying,“ If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be put to death!”So Michal let David down through a window, and he went and fled, and escaped.And Michal took the household idol and laid it on the bed, and put a quilt of goats’ hair at its head, and covered it with clothing.When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said,“ He is sick.”Then Saul sent messengers to see David, saying,“ Bring him up to me on his bed, so that I may put him to death.”When the messengers entered, behold, the household idol was on the bed with the quilt of goats’ hair at its head.So Saul said to Michal,“ Why have you betrayed me like this and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped?” And Michal said to Saul,“ He said to me,‘ Let me go! Why should I put you to death?’ ”So David fled and escaped, and came to Samuel at Ramah; and he informed him of everything that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and stayed in Naioth.But it was reported to Saul, saying,“ Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.”Then Saul sent messengers to take David, but when they saw the company of prophets prophesying, with Samuel standing and presiding over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul; and they also prophesied.When Saul was informed of this, he sent other messengers, but they also prophesied. So Saul sent messengers again the third time, yet they prophesied.Then he went to Ramah himself and came as far as the large well that is in Secu; and he asked,“ Where are Samuel and David?” And someone said,“ Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.”So he proceeded there to Naioth in Ramah; but the Spirit of God came upon him also, so that he went along prophesying continually until he came to Naioth in Ramah.He also stripped off his clothes, and he too prophesied before Samuel and lay down naked all that day and all night. Therefore they say,“ Is Saul also among the prophets?”

He rescues me from my enemies; You indeed lift me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from a violent man.

Be gracious to me, God, be gracious to me, For my soul takes refuge in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge Until destruction passes by.

He will dwell on the heights, His refuge will be the impregnable rock; His bread will be given him, His water will be sure.

May the Lord answer you on a day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!

And in Your faithfulness, destroy my enemies, And eliminate all those who attack my soul, For I am Your servant.

When it was reported to the Gazites, saying,“ Samson has come here,” they surrounded the place and lay in wait for him all night at the gate of the city. And they kept silent all night, saying,“ Let’s wait until the morning light, then we will kill him.”Now Samson lay asleep until midnight, and at midnight he got up and took hold of the doors of the city gate and the two doorposts, and pulled them up along with the bars; then he put them on his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of the mountain which is opposite Hebron.

“ Because he has loved Me, I will save him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.

To grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, Would serve Him without fear,In holiness and righteousness before Him all our days.

But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was rescued out of the lion’s mouth.The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

O Lord my God, in You I have taken refuge; Save me from all those who pursue me, and rescue me,Or he will tear my soul like a lion, Dragging me away, while there is no one to rescue me.
