非敵我者詬我、若然、尚可容忍、非憾我者驕我、若然、則必退避兮、

今有人焉、矜詡侮予、非予寇讎、非予仇隙、設或是之、猶可隱忍、杜門不出、

毀謗我者、素非仇人、若是仇人、尚可忍耐、向我狂傲者、素非憾我之人、若是憾我之人、猶可隱避、

惡黨充街衢。行為暴且譎。

If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were rising against me, I could hide.

If an enemy were making fun of me, I could stand it. If he were getting ready to oppose me, I could hide.

For it is not an enemy who taunts me— then I could bear it; it is not an adversary who deals insolently with me— then I could hide from him.

Even my best friend, the one I trusted completely, the one who shared my food, has turned against me.

“ I am not saying these things to all of you; I know the ones I have chosen. But this fulfills the Scripture that says,‘ The one who eats my food has turned against me.’

While they were eating, he said,“ I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me.”Greatly distressed, each one asked in turn,“ Am I the one, Lord?”He replied,“ One of you who has just eaten from this bowl with me will betray me.

May those who rejoice at my troubles be humiliated and disgraced. May those who triumph over me be covered with shame and dishonor.

Judas, the betrayer, knew this place, because Jesus had often gone there with his disciples.The leading priests and Pharisees had given Judas a contingent of Roman soldiers and Temple guards to accompany him. Now with blazing torches, lanterns, and weapons, they arrived at the olive grove.

I prayed,“ Don’t let my enemies gloat over me or rejoice at my downfall.”

But can the ax boast greater power than the person who uses it? Is the saw greater than the person who saws? Can a rod strike unless a hand moves it? Can a wooden cane walk by itself?
