I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes.

“ He has alienated my family from me; my acquaintances are completely estranged from me.My relatives have gone away; my closest friends have forgotten me.My guests and my female servants count me a foreigner; they look on me as on a stranger.

See how they lie in wait for me! Fierce men conspire against me for no offense or sin of mine, Lord.I have done no wrong, yet they are ready to attack me. Arise to help me; look on my plight!You, Lord God Almighty, you who are the God of Israel, rouse yourself to punish all the nations; show no mercy to wicked traitors.

But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.“ Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor.“ Barabbas,” they answered.“ What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Pilate asked. They all answered,“ Crucify him!”“ Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder,“ Crucify him!”

They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me.

I am a foreigner to my own family, a stranger to my own mother’s children;

Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet.

May all who want to take my life be put to shame and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.

I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on God.
