我觀智慧者死、愚蠢者亡、遺業於後兮、

他必见智慧人死，又见愚顽人和畜类人一同灭亡，将他们的财货留给别人。

For all can see that the wise die, that the foolish and the senseless also perish, leaving their wealth to others.

各人所為、無非捉影、諠譟徒勞兮、積累財貨、不知孰得兮。

人固有一死、既死有鞫之事、

譬彼鷓鴣、非己之卵、覆翼而育之、亦猶得非義之利者、不終身而失之、其愚孰甚。

愚蠢之人、不知斯理、不明斯道兮、惡者亨通、知草萌芽、轉瞬凋零、至於永亡兮、

且以一人、在世有罪、因罪而死、於是人皆有罪、人皆有死、法未立、罪在世、惟無法、則有罪不為犯法、然自亞當至摩西、及不效尤亞當者、皆死乘權以治之、亞當乃後至者之對也、

智愚既同歸於死、而後世忘其名、天下事皆作如是觀。斯世所為、殷憂慼慼、莫非捕風捉影、故我不樂其生。我一身勞瘁、不可為悅、蓋所經營、必遺於後起之人、子孫智愚、難以逆料、惟我竭其心思、勞苦畢生、彼得而主之、豈不盡屬於虛哉。可知經營百事、絕無餘望。人之勞心力、運智謀、凡事亨通、後人逸而得之、盡屬於虛、大可憫也。

崇拜偶像、愚蠢孰甚、欲知其妄、以木為證。

我竭吾心思、詳察百事、知義人智人之所為、咸歸上帝治理、惟觀其人之所值、而上帝之眷顧與否、仍難逆料。萬民所遭、初無或異、義不義、潔不潔、祭不祭、善不善、妄誓不妄誓者、億兆亦同此賦畀。

曠觀天下之人、深可憫惜、積貯貨財、自取其害、既遭患難、貨財俱失、雖有子孫、無業可遺。蓋裸而出世、必裸而歸土、所勤勞而得者、毫不能攜。良可憫也、其入世若是、其逝世亦若是、捕風無益、徒勞而已。

順受譴責、必增智慧、不受夏楚、依然愚蠢。

上帝所悅者、賜以智慧歡樂、若惡人則勞苦之、以其所積貨財、賜於善良、凡百之事、無非捕風捉影、以此益見矣。

降禍之日、貨財亦復何裨、臨死之時、仁義足以自救。

耶和華兮、手援拯我、斯世害予兮、爾其免我、乃彼至今兮、反得福祜、富有兮豐亨、寖昌兮寢熾、業遺於子孫、

迨其臨沒、不攜一物、尊榮不隨其身兮、

然敬虔知足、則利莫大焉、我出世無所制攜來、逝世無所攜去、此理昭然、衣食足、當知止、苟圖富有、陷誘惑、罹羅網、溺於無理有害之欲、終必沉淪、好利為萬惡根、有人慕之、則背於道、以多苦自刺、
