There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.

God’s blessings are like a river. They fill the city of God with joy. That city is the holy place where the Most High God lives.

He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist.He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in— a river that no one could cross.He asked me,“ Son of man, do you see this?” Then he led me back to the bank of the river.When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river.He said to me,“ This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh.Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds— like the fish of the Mediterranean Sea.But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.” (niv)

Glorious things are said of you, city of God: (niv)

As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of the Lord Almighty, in the city of our God: God makes her secure forever. (niv)

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, (niv)

“ Because this people has rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah and rejoices over Rezin and the son of Remaliah,therefore the Lord is about to bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the Euphrates— the king of Assyria with all his pomp. It will overflow all its channels, run over all its banks (niv)

The children of your oppressors will come bowing before you; all who despise you will bow down at your feet and will call you the City of the Lord, Zion of the Holy One of Israel. (niv)

But now I have chosen Jerusalem for my Name to be there, and I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.’ (niv)

Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his holy mountain. (niv)

It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, (niv)

With what shall I come before the Lord and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? (niv)

If you see the poor oppressed in a district, and justice and rights denied, do not be surprised at such things; for one official is eyed by a higher one, and over them both are others higher still. (niv)
