上帝歟、尚其為我折中、辨屈於不虔之國、援我於詭譎不義之人兮、

民俱不仁、詭譎殘賊兮、予望上帝、伸我冤而援手兮、

求天主在不仁不義之民中、為我伸冤、拯救我脫離奸詐邪惡之人、

何群逆之詭譎兮。惟殘害之為務。求主一測予之中情兮。吾固不與彼同度。主其伸予之冤兮。辨予之誣。

Vindicate me, my God, and plead my cause against an unfaithful nation. Rescue me from those who are deceitful and wicked.

My God, when you hand down your decision, let it be in my favor. Stand up for me against an unfaithful nation. Save me from those lying and sinful people.

Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me!

O LORD, fight those who fight with me! Attack those who attack me!

Vindicate me by your justice, O LORD my God! Do not let them gloat over me!

The LORD judges the nations. Vindicate me, LORD, because I am innocent, because I am blameless, O Exalted One!

You destroy liars; the LORD despises violent and deceitful people.

Now David had been told,“ Ahithophel has sided with the conspirators who are with Absalom. So David prayed,“ Make the advice of Ahithophel foolish, O LORD!”

for their Protector is strong; he will plead their case against you.

For God is the judge! He brings one down and exalts another.

for the LORD will plead their case and will rob those who are robbing them.

I must endure the LORD’s anger, for I have sinned against him. But then he will defend my cause, and accomplish justice on my behalf. He will lead me out into the light; I will experience firsthand his deliverance.

My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the hand of the cruel oppressor!

For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not acquitted because of this. The one who judges me is the Lord.

When he was maligned, he did not answer back; when he suffered, he threatened no retaliation, but committed himself to God who judges justly.

Then Absalom said to Ahithophel,“ Give us your advice. What should we do?”Ahithophel replied to Absalom,“ Have sex with your father’s concubines whom he left to care for the palace. All Israel will hear that you have made yourself repulsive to your father. Then your followers will be motivated to support you.”So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the roof, and Absalom had sex with his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.In those days Ahithophel’s advice was considered as valuable as a prophetic revelation. Both David and Absalom highly regarded the advice of Ahithophel.Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ Let me pick out twelve thousand men. Then I will go and pursue David this very night.When I catch up with him he will be exhausted and worn out. I will rout him, and the entire army that is with him will flee. I will kill only the kingand will bring the entire army back to you. In exchange for the life of the man you are seeking, you will get back everyone. The entire army will return unharmed.”This seemed like a good idea to Absalom and to all the leaders of Israel.
