Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor! The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble.

Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble.

Blessed are those who care about weak people. When they are in trouble, the Lord saves them.

Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him;

Happy is one who is considerate of the poor; the LORD will save him in a day of adversity.

Blessed is one who considers the helpless; The Lord will save him on a day of trouble.

Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

Blessed is he that considereth the poor: Jehovah will deliver him in the day of evil.

Happy is one who cares for the poor; the Lord will save him in a day of adversity.

Blessed[ is] he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

How blessed is the one who treats the poor properly! When trouble comes, the LORD delivers him.

Blessed is he who considers the poor. Yahweh will deliver him in the day of evil.

It is a sin to belittle one’s neighbor; blessed are those who help the poor.

If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord— and he will repay you!

And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus:‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.As the Scriptures say,“ They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.So two good things will result from this ministry of giving— the needs of the believers in Jerusalem will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God.As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ.And they will pray for you with deep affection because of the overflowing grace God has given to you.

“ Then the King will say to those on his right,‘ Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’“ Then these righteous ones will reply,‘ Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing?When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

They will not be disgraced in hard times; even in famine they will have more than enough.

For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.

There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.

Instead, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind.Then at the resurrection of the righteous, God will reward you for inviting those who could not repay you.”

They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor.

Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.“ Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.Then when you call, the Lord will answer.‘ Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply.“ Remove the heavy yoke of oppression. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors!Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well watered garden, like an ever flowing spring.

You will always have the poor among you, and you can help them whenever you want to. But you will not always have me.

“ Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.Rescue the poor and helpless; deliver them from the grasp of evil people.

The godly always give generous loans to others, and their children are a blessing.

Send your grain across the seas, and in time, profits will flow back to you.But divide your investments among many places, for you do not know what risks might lie ahead.

“ Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world.

Their only suggestion was that we keep on helping the poor, which I have always been eager to do.

“ But if there are any poor Israelites in your towns when you arrive in the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hard hearted or tightfisted toward them.Instead, be generous and lend them whatever they need.Do not be mean spirited and refuse someone a loan because the year for canceling debts is close at hand. If you refuse to make the loan and the needy person cries out to the Lord, you will be considered guilty of sin.Give generously to the poor, not grudgingly, for the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do.There will always be some in the land who are poor. That is why I am commanding you to share freely with the poor and with other Israelites in need.

The Lord rescues the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble.The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him.

“ Have I refused to help the poor, or crushed the hopes of widows?Have I been stingy with my food and refused to share it with orphans?No, from childhood I have cared for orphans like a father, and all my life I have cared for widows.Whenever I saw the homeless without clothes and the needy with nothing to wear,did they not praise me for providing wool clothing to keep them warm?

Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.

For I assisted the poor in their need and the orphans who required help.I helped those without hope, and they blessed me. And I caused the widows’ hearts to sing for joy.Everything I did was honest. Righteousness covered me like a robe, and I wore justice like a turban.I served as eyes for the blind and feet for the lame.I was a father to the poor and assisted strangers who needed help.

The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.

Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say,“ Life is not pleasant anymore.”

The anger of the king is a deadly threat; the wise will try to appease it.
