He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock,[ and] established my goings.

援我於陷阱、出我於淤泥、立我足於磐石、穩我步履兮、

救我於深淵、出我於淤泥、使我固立、若處重巖兮。

從陷坑淤泥中將我救援、使我之足立於磐上、俾我步履安穩、

小子所仰望。惟在聖主躬。主已應我求。呼籲達宸聰。

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

I was sliding down into the pit of death, and he pulled me out. He brought me up out of the mud and dirt. He set my feet on a rock. He gave me a firm place to stand on.

He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.

He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.

He brought me up from a desolate pit, out of the muddy clay, and set my feet on a rock, making my steps secure.

The steps of a[ good] man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

I sink in deep mire, where[ there is] no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.Men[ and] brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock[ that] is higher than I.

Hold up my goings in thy paths,[ that] my footsteps slip not.

For great[ is] thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein[ is] no water.

[ Thou], which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

The waters compassed me about,[ even] to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars[ was] about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that[ was] in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon[ there was] no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the mire.Now when Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, one of the eunuchs which was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon; the king then sitting in the gate of Benjamin;Ebedmelech went forth out of the king’s house, and spake to the king, saying,My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is like to die for hunger in the place where he is: for[ there is] no more bread in the city.Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Take from hence thirty men with thee, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he die.So Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old cast clouts and old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah.And Ebedmelech the Ethiopian said unto Jeremiah, Put now[ these] old cast clouts and rotten rags under thine armholes under the cords. And Jeremiah did so.

And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.Waters flowed over mine head;[ then] I said, I am cut off.I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.

And they shall be gathered together,[ as] prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.
