So the tongue also is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how much wood is kindled by how small a fire!And the tongue is a fire: the world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the wheel of nature, and is set on fire by hell.For every kind of beasts and birds, of creeping things and things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind:but the tongue can no man tame; it is a restless evil, it is full of deadly poison.Therewith bless we the Lord and Father; and therewith curse we men, who are made after the likeness of God:out of the same mouth cometh forth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

If any man thinketh himself to be religious, while he bridleth not his tongue but deceiveth his heart, this man’s religion is vain.

For in many things we all stumble. If any stumbleth not in word, the same is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also.

Ye know this, my beloved brethren. But let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

I said, I will take heed to my ways, That I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, While the wicked is before me.

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue Keepeth his soul from troubles.

lie not one to another; seeing that ye have put off the old man with his doings,

Putting away therefore all wickedness, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

Death and life are in the power of the tongue; And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

The good man out of his good treasure bringeth forth good things: and the evil man out of his evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.And I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his life; But he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

The lip of truth shall be established for ever; But a lying tongue is but for a moment.

Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; But they that deal truly are his delight.

These are they that were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they that follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were purchased from among men, to be the firstfruits unto God and unto the Lamb.And in their mouth was found no lie: they are without blemish.

Wickedness is in the midst thereof: Oppression and guile depart not from its streets.

A false witness shall not be unpunished; And he that uttereth lies shall perish.

For he said, Surely, they are my people, children that will not deal falsely: so he was their Saviour.

The wicked are overthrown, and are not; But the house of the righteous shall stand.
