予聞眾民之訕謗、欲設謀而殺予、予隨在而驚惶兮、

我聞多人之謗言、在我四圍有驚惶之事、彼眾聚集以攻我、謀害我命、

雖存已若亡。棄置如舊瓶。

For I hear many whispering,“ Terror on every side!” They conspire against me and plot to take my life.

I hear many people whispering,“ There is terror all around him!” Many have joined together against me. They plan to kill me.

For I hear the whispering of many— terror on every side!— as they scheme together against me, as they plot to take my life.

I have heard the many rumors about me, and I am surrounded by terror. My enemies conspire against me, plotting to take my life.

I have heard the gossip of many; terror is on every side. When they conspired against me, they plotted to take my life.

Now when morning had come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

For I have heard the defaming of many,“ Terror on every side! Denounce, and we will denounce him!” say all my familiar friends, those who watch for my fall.“ Perhaps he will be persuaded, and we will prevail against him, and we will take our revenge on him.”

“ You have called, as in the day of a solemn assembly, my terrors on every side. There was no one that escaped or remained in the day of Yahweh’s anger. My enemy has consumed those whom I have cared for and brought up.

Moreover Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ Let me now choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David tonight.I will come on him while he is weary and exhausted, and will make him afraid. All the people who are with him will flee. I will strike the king only,and I will bring back all the people to you. The man whom you seek is as if all returned. All the people shall be in peace.”The saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.

Saul cast his spear at him to strike him. By this Jonathan knew that his father was determined to put David to death.

Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear; but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, and he stuck the spear into the wall. David fled, and escaped that night.Saul sent messengers to David’s house, to watch him, and to kill him in the morning. Michal, David’s wife, told him, saying,“ If you don’t save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”So Michal let David down through the window. He went away, fled, and escaped.Michal took the teraphim, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats’ hair at its head, and covered it with clothes.When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said,“ He is sick.”Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying,“ Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.”When the messengers came in, behold, the teraphim was in the bed, with the pillow of goats’ hair at its head.Saul said to Michal,“ Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped?” Michal answered Saul,“ He said to me,‘ Let me go! Why should I kill you?’”

that all of you have conspired against me, and there is no one who discloses to me when my son makes a treaty with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you who is sorry for me, or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as it is today?”Then Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul, answered and said,“ I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.He inquired of Yahweh for him, gave him food, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”

But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter. I didn’t know that they had devised plans against me, saying,“ Let’s destroy the tree with its fruit, and let’s cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.”

My soul is among lions. I lie among those who are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

Don’t go out into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and terror are on every side.

Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas.They took counsel together that they might take Jesus by deceit, and kill him.

I will silence whoever secretly slanders his neighbor. I won’t tolerate one who is arrogant and conceited.

Day and night they prowl around on its walls. Malice and abuse are also within her.

Be merciful to me, God, for man wants to swallow me up. All day long, he attacks and oppresses me.My enemies want to swallow me up all day long, for they are many who fight proudly against me.When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.

The whole company of them rose up and brought him before Pilate.They began to accuse him, saying,“ We found this man perverting the nation, forbidding paying taxes to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king.”

But they insisted, saying,“ He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee even to this place.”

David said to Saul,“ Why do you listen to men’s words, saying,‘ Behold, David seeks to harm you?’

On the next day, Pashhur released Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him,“ Yahweh has not called your name Pashhur, but Magormissabib.For Yahweh says,‘ Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes will see it. I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them captive to Babylon, and will kill them with the sword.
