You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit.

I relied completely on the LORD, and he turned toward me and heard my cry for help.He lifted me out of the watery pit, out of the slimy mud. He placed my feet on a rock and gave me secure footing.

“ Look, the grief I experienced was for my benefit. You delivered me from the pit of oblivion. For you removed all my sins from your sight.Indeed Sheol does not give you thanks; death does not praise you. Those who descend into the pit do not anticipate your faithfulness.

I thought I had been banished from your sight, that I would never again see your holy temple!Water engulfed me up to my neck; the deep ocean surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head.I went down to the very bottoms of the mountains; the gates of the netherworld barred me in forever; but you brought me up from the Pit, O LORD, my God.

Or a person is chastened by pain on his bed, and with the continual strife of his bones,so that his life loathes food, and his soul rejects appetizing fare.His flesh wastes away from sight, and his bones, which were not seen, are easily visible.He draws near to the place of corruption, and his life to the messengers of death.
