I hate the gatherings of those who do evil, and I refuse to join in with the wicked.

群小會集處。何曾敢廁足。

I abhor the assembly of evildoers and refuse to sit with the wicked.

I hate to be with a group of sinful people. I refuse to spend time with those who are evil.

I hate those who worship worthless idols. I trust in the Lord.

O Lord, shouldn’t I hate those who hate you? Shouldn’t I despise those who oppose you?Yes, I hate them with total hatred, for your enemies are my enemies.

I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar. I hate all who deal crookedly; I will have nothing to do with them.I will reject perverse ideas and stay away from every evil.I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride.I will search for faithful people to be my companions. Only those who are above reproach will be allowed to serve me.I will not allow deceivers to serve in my house, and liars will not stay in my presence.My daily task will be to ferret out the wicked and free the city of the Lord from their grip.

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.

When I wrote to you before, I told you not to associate with people who indulge in sexual sin.But I wasn’t talking about unbelievers who indulge in sexual sin, or are greedy, or cheat people, or worship idols. You would have to leave this world to avoid people like that.I meant that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats people. Don’t even eat with such people.

But when the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples,“ Why does your teacher eat with such scum?”When Jesus heard this, he said,“ Healthy people don’t need a doctor— sick people do.”
