for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.

He set it firmly on the oceans. He made it secure on the waters.

He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be upended.The watery deep covered it like a garment; the waters reached above the mountains.

“ You should fear me!” says the LORD.“ You should tremble in awe before me! I made the sand to be a boundary for the sea, a permanent barrier that it can never cross. Its waves may roll, but they can never prevail. They may roar, but they can never cross beyond that boundary.”

God said,“ Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place and let dry ground appear.” It was so.God called the dry ground“ land” and the gathered waters he called“ seas.” God saw that it was good.

Say among the nations,“ The LORD reigns! The world is established, it cannot be moved. He judges the nations fairly.”

You people of Israel should tell those nations this:‘ These gods did not make heaven and earth. They will disappear from the earth and from under the heavens.’The LORD is the one who by his power made the earth. He is the one who by his wisdom established the world. And by his understanding he spread out the skies.When his voice thunders, the heavenly ocean roars. He makes the clouds rise from the far-off horizons. He makes the lightning flash out in the midst of the rain. He unleashes the wind from the places where he stores it.All these idolaters will prove to be stupid and ignorant. Every goldsmith will be disgraced by the idol he made. For the image he forges is merely a sham. There is no breath in any of those idols.They are worthless, mere objects to be mocked. When the time comes to punish them, they will be destroyed.The LORD, who is the inheritance of Jacob’s descendants, is not like them. He is the one who created everything. And the people of Israel are those he claims as his own. He is known as the LORD who rules over all.”

The depths of the earth are in his hand, and the mountain peaks belong to him.

For they deliberately suppress this fact, that by the word of God heavens existed long ago and an earth was formed out of water and by means of water.Through these things the world existing at that time was destroyed when it was deluged with water.But by the same word the present heavens and earth have been reserved for fire, by being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

The LORD reigns! He is robed in majesty, the LORD is robed, he wears strength around his waist. Indeed, the world is established, it cannot be moved.

“ Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you possess understanding!

By the LORD’s decree the heavens were made; by a mere word from his mouth all the stars in the sky were created.

“ While the earth continues to exist, planting time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.”

“ Who shut up the sea with doors when it burst forth, coming out of the womb,when I made the storm clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band,when I prescribed its limits, and set in place its bolts and doors,when I said,‘ To here you may come and no farther, here your proud waves will be confined’?
