All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads.

All those who see me laugh at me. They shout at me and make fun of me. They shake their heads at me.

All who see me mock me; they make mouths at me; they wag their heads;

Everyone who sees me mocks me. They sneer and shake their heads, saying,

And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying,“ Aha! You who destroy the temple and build it in three days,

I also have become a reproach to them; When they look at me, they shake their heads.

You make us a byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the peoples.

But Jesus answered and said to them,“ I also will ask you one question; then answer Me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things:The baptism of John— was it from heaven or from men? Answer Me.”And they reasoned among themselves, saying,“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ He will say,‘ Why then did you not believe him?’But if we say,‘ From men’”— they feared the people, for all counted John to have been a prophet indeed.

He said to them,“ Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him.

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him.

They gape at me with their mouth, They strike me reproachfully on the cheek, They gather together against me.

And the people stood looking on. But even the rulers with them sneered, saying,“ He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God.”The soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him sour wine,and saying,“ If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.”And an inscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying,“ If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”

I also could speak as you do, If your soul were in my soul’s place. I could heap up words against you, And shake my head at you;

Then Herod, with his men of war, treated Him with contempt and mocked Him, arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

What do you think?” They answered and said,“ He is deserving of death.”Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with the palms of their hands,saying,“ Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?”

He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

And when they had mocked Him, they took the purple off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him out to crucify Him.

But in my adversity they rejoiced And gathered together; Attackers gathered against me, And I did not know it; They tore at me and did not cease;With ungodly mockers at feasts They gnashed at me with their teeth.

When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying,“ Hail, King of the Jews!”

this is the word which the Lord has spoken concerning him:“ The virgin, the daughter of Zion, Has despised you, laughed you to scorn; The daughter of Jerusalem Has shaken her head behind your back!“ Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice, And lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.

“ And now I am their taunting song; Yes, I am their byword.They abhor me, they keep far from me; They do not hesitate to spit in my face.Because He has loosed my bowstring and afflicted me, They have cast off restraint before me.

Let the lying lips be put to silence, Which speak insolent things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

Whom do you ridicule? Against whom do you make a wide mouth And stick out the tongue? Are you not children of transgression, Offspring of falsehood,
