I also have become a disgrace to them; When they see me, they shake their head.

And those passing by were speaking abusively to Him, shaking their heads,and saying,“ You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”

You make us a proverb among the nations, A laughingstock among the peoples.

But Jesus said to them,“ I will ask you one question, and you answer Me, and then I will tell you by what authority I do these things.Was the baptism of John from heaven, or from men? Answer Me.”And they began considering the implications among themselves, saying,“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ He will say,‘ Then why did you not believe him?’But should we say,‘ From men’?”— they were afraid of the people, for they all considered John to have been a real prophet.

He said,“ Leave; for the girl has not died, but is asleep.” And they began laughing at Him.

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things and were ridiculing Him.

They have gaped at me with their mouths, They have slapped me on the cheek with contempt; They have massed themselves against me.

And the people stood by, watching. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying,“ He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One.”The soldiers also ridiculed Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine,and saying,“ If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!”Now there was also an inscription above Him,“ THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying,“ Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!”

I too could speak like you, If only I were in your place. I could compose words against you And shake my head at you.

And Herod, together with his soldiers, treated Him with contempt and mocked Him, dressing Him in a brightly shining robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

what do you think?” They answered,“ He deserves death!”Then they spit in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others slapped Him,and said,“ Prophesy to us, You Christ; who is the one who hit You?”

this is the word that the Lord has spoken against him:“ She has shown contempt for you and derided you, The virgin daughter of Zion; The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head behind you!Whom have you taunted and blasphemed? And against whom have you raised your voice And haughtily raised your eyes? Against the Holy One of Israel!

“ And now I have become their taunt, And I have become a byword to them.They loathe me and stand aloof from me, And they do not refrain from spitting in my face.Because He has undone my bowstring and afflicted me, They have cast off the bridle before me.

Let the lying lips be speechless, Which speak arrogantly against the righteous With pride and contempt.

Of whom do you make fun? Against whom do you open wide your mouth And stick out your tongue? Are you not children of rebellion, Offspring of deceit,
