As it is written:“ Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture,“ Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.”

But Israel shall be saved by the Lord With an everlasting salvation; You shall not be ashamed or disgraced Forever and ever.

In You, O Lord, I put my trust; Let me never be put to shame.

For the Scripture says,“ Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

In You, O Lord, I put my trust; Let me never be ashamed; Deliver me in Your righteousness.

Let not those who wait for You, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed because of me; Let not those who seek You be confounded because of me, O God of Israel.Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Shame has covered my face.

O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me.Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed; Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.

Therefore I will deliver you no more.“ Go and cry out to the gods which you have chosen; let them deliver you in your time of distress.”And the children of Israel said to the Lord,“ We have sinned! Do to us whatever seems best to You; only deliver us this day, we pray.”So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord. And His soul could no longer endure the misery of Israel.

So Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites, and the children of Israel cried out to the Lord.
