Sing to God! Sing praises to his name! Exalt the one who rides on the clouds! For the LORD is his name! Rejoice before him!

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; when it comes, the heavens will disappear with a horrific noise, and the celestial bodies will melt away in a blaze, and the earth and every deed done on it will be laid bare.

Now when it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.

“ Immediately after the suffering of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be shaken.

Jesus replied,“ You do not understand what I am doing now, but you will understand after these things.”

Look up at the sky! Look at the earth below! For the sky will dissipate like smoke, and the earth will wear out like clothes; its residents will die like gnats. But the deliverance I give is permanent; the vindication I provide will not disappear.

The LORD roars from Zion; from Jerusalem his voice bellows out. The heavens and the earth shake. But the LORD is a refuge for his people; he is a stronghold for the citizens of Israel.

O LORD, make the sky sink and come down! Touch the mountains and make them smolder!Hurl lightning bolts and scatter them! Shoot your arrows and rout them!Reach down from above! Grab me and rescue me from the surging water, from the power of foreigners,who speak lies, and make false promises.O God, I will sing a new song to you! Accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, I will sing praises to you,the one who delivers kings, and rescued David his servant from a deadly sword.Grab me and rescue me from the power of foreigners, who speak lies, and make false promises.Then our sons will be like plants, that quickly grow to full size. Our daughters will be like corner pillars, carved like those in a palace.Our storehouses will be full, providing all kinds of food. Our sheep will multiply by the thousands and fill our pastures.Our cattle will be weighted down with produce. No one will break through our walls, no one will be taken captive, and there will be no terrified cries in our city squares.How blessed are the people who experience these things! How blessed are the people whose God is the LORD!

There is no one like God, O Jeshurun, who rides through the sky to help you, on the clouds in majesty.

The LORD said these things to your entire assembly at the mountain from the middle of the fire, the cloud, and the darkness with a loud voice, and that was all he said. Then he inscribed the words on two stone tablets and gave them to me.Then, when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness while the mountain was ablaze, all your tribal leaders and elders approached me.
