Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.For the Lord has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession. (niv)

The Lord has made proclamation to the ends of the earth:“ Say to Daughter Zion,‘ See, your Savior comes! See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him.’”They will be called the Holy People, the Redeemed of the Lord; and you will be called Sought After, the City No Longer Deserted. How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion,“ Your God reigns!” (niv)

There, in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the Lord your God has blessed you. (niv)

For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. For your Maker is your husband— the Lord Almighty is his name— the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth. (niv)

For the sake of his great name the Lord will not reject his people, because the Lord was pleased to make you his own. (niv)

Be glad, people of Zion, rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given you the autumn rains because he is faithful. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains, as before. (niv)

But they shouted,“ Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!”“ Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked.“ We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered. (niv)

Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: jesus of nazareth, the king of the jews.Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek.The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate,“ Do not write‘ The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.Pilate answered,“ What I have written, I have written.” (niv)

For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh— (niv)

But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them— bring them here and kill them in front of me.’” (niv)
