上帝啊，側耳聽我的禱告！不要掩面不聽我的懇求哦。求你留心聽我，應我；我在哀歎中鬱悶沮喪，紛亂擾嚷，由於仇敵的聲音，惡人的壓力；因為他們將禍患傾落於我身，氣忿忿地逼迫我。

惡人窺伺着義人，想法子要殺死他。永恆主卻不撇棄他於惡人手中，當審判時也不定他為惡。你要切候着永恆主，一直走他的道路，他就抬舉你來擁有地土；惡人被剪除時、你必看見。我見過惡人強橫可怖，挺然高聳、像茂盛的香柏樹。我從那裏經過，啊，已經沒有了；我尋找他，卻找不着。你細察純全人，觀看正直人，看寧靜人怎樣有後代。但犯法的人必一概消滅；惡人的後代必被剪除。但義人之得救是由於永恆主；在患難時、永恆主做他們的逃難所。永恆主幫助他們，解救他們；他解救他們脫離惡人，把他們救出，因為他們避難於他裏面。
