Therefore Yahweh’s anger burns against his people, and he has stretched out his hand against them and has struck them. The mountains tremble, and their dead bodies are as refuse in the middle of the streets. For all this, his anger is not turned away, but his hand is still stretched out.

Won’t you revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?

Don’t rejoice against me, my enemy. When I fall, I will arise. When I sit in darkness, Yahweh will be a light to me.I will bear the indignation of Yahweh, because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my case, and executes judgment for me. Blessed be Yahweh, my rock, who teaches my hands to war, and my fingers to battle:my loving kindness, my fortress, my high tower, my deliverer, my shield, and he in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me.

Remember your word to your servant, because you gave me hope.This is my comfort in my affliction, for your word has revived me.

So that your beloved may be delivered, save with your right hand, and answer us.

You have also given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand sustains me. Your gentleness has made me great.

All who hate me whisper together against me. They imagine the worst for me.“ An evil disease”, they say,“ has afflicted him. Now that he lies he shall rise up no more.”

For I will not contend forever, neither will I always be angry; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls whom I have made.

Contend, Yahweh, with those who contend with me. Fight against those who fight against me.Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help.Brandish the spear and block those who pursue me. Tell my soul,“ I am your salvation.”

Show your marvelous loving kindness, you who save those who take refuge by your right hand from their enemies.

Then my enemies shall turn back in the day that I call. I know this: that God is for me.
