猶憶創國之始、雖境遇厄窮、亦未嘗為敵所勝兮、

從我幼時、敵人屢攻擊我、卻未曾勝我、

外患實頻仍。所幸未崩潰。

我還告訴你：你是彼得，我要在這磐石上建立我的教會，陰間的門不能勝過它。

到底誰能使我們與基督的愛分開呢？難道是患難嗎？是困苦嗎？是逼迫嗎？是飢餓嗎？是赤身嗎？是危險嗎？是刀劍嗎？正如經上所記：「為你的緣故，我們終日被置於死地，被看為要宰殺的羊。」然而，靠著愛我們的那一位，我們在這一切事上已經得勝有餘了。事實上，我深信：無論是死、是生、是天使、是統治者、是現在的事、是將來的事、是有勢力的、是高處的、是深處的，或是任何別的被造之物，都不能使我們與神的愛分開，這愛是在我們主基督耶穌裡的。

可是龍不能得勝，天上再也沒有牠們的地方了。於是那巨龍被摔了下來。牠就是那古蛇，被稱為魔鬼和撒旦，那迷惑普天下的。牠被摔在地上，牠的使者們也與牠一起被摔了下來。

我們處處受患難，卻不被壓碎；心裡困惑，卻沒有絕望；受逼迫，卻不被撇棄；被打倒，卻沒有滅亡。

依靠耶和華的人，就像錫安山，不致動搖，永遠屹立。

我把這些事告訴了你們，好讓你們在我裡面有平安。在世上你們有患難，然而你們要鼓起勇氣！我已經勝過了這世界。」

我被人推搡，將要跌倒；但是耶和華幫助我。

神哪，我的靈魂切慕你，如鹿切慕溪水！

義人有許多患難，但耶和華解救他脫離這一切，
